Playstation 2 Launch Posted by Jason on Friday, October 27th, 2000 Today's strip was pencilled at around 2:00 AM Thursday morning, in a line of very... interesting... people outside of a local Best Buy. This was, of course, the wait for the much anticipated Playstation 2! I wasn't actually planning on camping out to get a PS2, particularly because I already own the Japanese version. But after realizing that I'm just as pathetic as anyone else, I decided to take the plunge and sit outside with the rest of the freaks. It was definitely a learning experience, especially when the freezing rain started pouring down. I can just imagine the groundbreaking decision at the marketing meeting at Sony: "Let's delay the launch of the PS2 until October 26. According to our numbers, that day every single populated geographical location in the United States will have freezing rain. It'll be great to see those stupid kids camping outside getting soaked!" And on that note, I'd like to make a small clarification. I have seen Luminosity Pro labeled prematurely as a video gaming comic. Just about every site that attempts to explain what this comic is about mentions that it is about gaming. I would like to vehemently deny that accusation, and I'm sure you will all find shortly that this comic is most certainly not about gaming. Of course, the gaming scene will continue to make its presence in Luminosity Pro, as it is a significant scene - but there's just so much more out there that this comic will tackle. Just wait and see, and I hope you will not be disappointed. I certainly have not been disappointed by the webcomics I've been exposed to recently. In addition to the popular webcomics that have been on the links page since day one, I'd like to point out a couple more brilliant diddies that I am now loyally reading with each update. Angst Technology is a hilarious interpretation of the technological corporate environment - one of few comics out of a million office comics that do it right. And then there's the charming Rusty Shrapnel, a stylish comic that is both different and outrageously funny - all from the mind and penmanship of an artist who represents a certain minority amongst webcartoonists. Go. NOW. So today marks the end of my self-tribulating daily run of Luminosity Pro. Next Monday we will go back to the intended frequency of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday updates.
